Our school is named in honour of Roy Bickell, an innovator, an explorer, an entrepreneur and a community contributor who, after his passing in 2015 continues to be a presence in our city through his lifelong dedication to improving our local resources, education and attractions. His passion for people, business and fossils was matched by his dedication to the Grande Prairie and Peace region. Roy Bickell's Biography

Principals Message

Welcome to Roy Bickell!

It has been my privilege to be a part of the Roy Bickell community.  This is my twentieth year of teaching and my tenth year in administration.  I am a local girl who grew up attending school right here in Grande Prairie.  It is a great honour to work with parents, students, and staff in my home city.  I completed my Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta and later my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Calgary.  I am passionate about building student emotional, social, and academic capacity so that they can achieve and grow.  My life is richly blessed with a supportive husband Peter and two daughters Mei Lei and Jai Lin.  We also have our new dog Tilly which we love so much!

"Exploring, Creating and Giving" will be at the heart of our work at Roy Bickell - guiding principles inspired from Roy Bickell, a local community minded and industrious individual, our school's namesake. will also be encouraged to take an increasing ownership of their education by learning how to learn in a culture of growth and deep-learning.

We encourage families to volunteer and participate in developing our school culture by joining our school council or volunteering in your child's classroom.

Welcome to Roy Bickell Public School!
